Pakistan's New Government With Old Problems

The Pakistan Peoples' Party is supporting the alliance from outside with no part for itself in the new cabinet. The PPP's role in the new government is now without ambition.

The stakes are high for jailed former Pakistan PM Imran Khan's party Pakistan-Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The PTI-backed candidates form largest bloc in the new National Assembly. The new government, therefore, is likely to face the questions of legitimacy.

The Taliban regime in Afghanistan once fostered by Pakistan itself, has become a challenge for army generals in Rawalpindi. This is because Taliban, like previous Afghan regimes, do not recognise Durand Line, the Pak-Afghan border. In past days, Taliban have claimed parts of Pakistan as their own.

High consumption of ginger also leads to stomach problems. Ginger increases the production of bile juice and if consumed empty stomach, it leads to excessive gastric stimulation.

The alliance between Sharif-Bhutto-Zardari is on a tricky wicket while Khan-backed candidates likely to throttle the pitch. A little change is expected in Islamabad-New Delhi ties.
