Diwali is the perfect time to indulge in delicious sweets and treats. This traditional Indian dessert is a delight for the taste buds and easy to prepare, making it ideal for festive gatherings. Check out this simple recipe:
You will need 1/4 cup of ghee, 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder, 1 cup of sugar, 4 slices of bread, 1 litre of full-fat milk and chopped nuts (almonds and pistachios) for garnish.
Heat ghee in a pan and fry the bread slices until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides. Remove them and drain on paper towels.
Bring the milk to a boil and then simmer it until it becomes thick. Subsequently, add cardamom powder and sugar together until the sugar melts.
After dipping the pieces of fried bread into the heated milk syrup, let them soak for a few seconds. Put it on a dish for serving.
Sprinkle chopped nuts on top of the soaked bread and drizzle the leftover milk syrup over it. Enjoy this delicious dessert warm or cold.
