Although these games are still played in rural areas today, technology has taken up a significant portion of our time, with traditional games like pithoo and gilli danda have faded into obscurity.

Chaupad

Invented in the 4th century, Chaupad is a traditional board game mentioned in the Mahabharata. In this game, a dice is rolled to determine how many boxes a pawn or shell will move to reach its home, and the player reaching the endpoint first is declared the winner.

Hopscotch or Kith-kith

One of the most well-known traditional Indian games, played for generations. The players must hop on the boxes drawn on the ground using one leg. If the player drops the other leg, they are disqualified.

Gilli Danda

In this traditional game, a player flips a cylindrical stick with cone-shaped ends (gilli) into the air and strikes it with a larger stick (danda). The player must race to a designated point before others touch the gilli.

Pithoo

A team game where one side knocks down a stack of flat stones with a ball while the other team tries to hit them before they rebuild the stack. Each team gets three attempts, losing a point occurs if an opponent is hit before the stack is restored.

Lattoo

Lattoo is one of the oldest games in history. It dates back to 3500 BC when clay tops were used. In this game, the players spin a cone-shaped wooden top using a rope inside a circle. The winner is determined by the top that turns the longest.
