A hero can take any form, shape, or species! Some dogs have demonstrated incredible heroic acts to those in need, especially in times of danger. 

Here Are 5 Real Dogs Who Saved Lives:

Joseph Phillips-Garcia was once travelling home with his family and their dog, Sako. Tragically, the car plunged 100 yards down a steep hill into the forest. The loyal dog kept the only human survivor Joseph warm, guided him to a nearby creek for water and guarded him against a pack of coyotes. 

Blind Maria Colon adopted a service dog—a Golden Labrador named Yolanda. One night, a fire broke out in Maria’s home while she slept. Sensing the danger, Yolanda used a specialized phone to dial 911, and emergency services arrived promptly to help.  

Peanut, an adopted dog, behaved unusually one morning, prompting the couple to let him outside into the backyard. It was then that they discovered a three-year-old girl huddled in a ditch, shaking from the cold. Authorities were called and promptly took the girl to a nearby hospital.

Bretagne, a search-and-rescue Golden Retriever dog, helped many survivors during the tragic events of 9/11. Despite the dangers of fires, falling debris, and other threats, Bretagne risked her life to save others. 

On March 11th, 2011, Babu, a Shih Tzu, saved her owner from the tsunami by instinctively leading her to safety. Her actions highlight the incredible heroism of dogs in times of crisis.
