The stage of Women Entrepreneurs in society

With patriarchy holding back women have steps to show their capabilities on higher grounds. We often hear about men achieving a significant stage in a company or society. History has proven to overshadow women’s capacity throughout time. In this modern time, we finally identify the crucial, elements a woman plays in a business and other industries. So, much that they seem to pass their men’s equivalent.

Today we find women getting their foot in various fields of society, including IT sector marketing business and Science, etc. This appreciable change took a new step last month in August 2021 when NITI Aayog and Cisco technology introduced WEPNxt.

A new measure by NITI Aayog and Cisco

NITI Aayog, a public policy think tank of the Indian government, has taken an initiative with U. S based multinational firm Cisco to start the next phase of women entrepreneurship, on the 26th of August 2021.

This stage of WEP is identified as WEPNxt, which works on utilizing Cisco’s technology and experience for working with the Indian startup ecosystem. With an objective to enable more businesses owned by women across India.

This project focuses on women coming from diverse backgrounds and a drive to start a business. The WEP is a unified portal that aims to focus on providing women with access to adequate resources, support, and skills to learn.

Under this scheme, Cisco will collaborate with NASSCOM Foundation, Sattva Consulting, and DeAsra Foundation. Allowing the technology-led experience to address all the challenges a woman entrepreneur faces. The focus is on both an enterprise-level challenge and individual challenges a woman faces for new growth opportunities.

NITI Aayog said “Based on a focused study of Indian women entrepreneurs and their most urgent needs across six key verticals–community and networking, skilling and mentorship, incubation and acceleration programs, and financial, compliance and marketing assistance–WEPNxt will be driven by evidence-based decision making,” 

How the introduction of WEPNxt will eliminate challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, in India?

The CEO of NITI Aayog ‘Amitabh Kant’ addresses the 6th economic census and mentions the women’s number of Entrepreneurship. Address that women only constitute 13.76% of total Indian entrepreneurs. You also know that through initiatives like WEP and its next phase WEBNxt, “we will realize this vision of a new India – where men and women have the equal opportunity to build and to share in the glory of achievement.”

This drive for addressing challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and supporting their needs has also promised to create more employment for women. ‘Harish Krishan’ Managing Director of Public Affairs and Strategic and Engagement at Cisco India and SAARC mentioned that setting aside the innovation this initiative can generate 170 million jobs by 2030. Analyzing that India’s GDP could accelerate up to 1.5% as more women start entrepreneurship.

NITI Aayog with its new initiative strives to improve the industry linkage and awareness of current programs and services. Promising to provide access to their support, resources, fundraisers, opportunities, learning, and mentorship. WEP has set to become an aggravated platform that finds solutions for the asymmetrical matters in the ecosystem. In this new phase, WEPNxt provides top-notch solutions to improve the information and services related to women entrepreneurs in India. This platform is currently hosting 16000 registered users and over 30 partners and caters to 6 main areas:- Incubation connections, Taxation, Compliance support, Funding, and Finance Management, Entrepreneur skills and Mentorship, Community, and Networking lastly Marketing Assistance.

This new shift for women entrepreneurs is a new drive for them to achieve their goals and make an impact on society, displaying their ideas and raising the standard of living of various women in India.
