Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is one of the toughest competitive exams in India. It was formerly known as the Imperial Civil Service. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) administers the Civil Services Examination, a national competitive exam in India, to select candidates for higher civil service positions with the Indian Government, such as those in the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, and Indian Police Service.
Many people believe that the IAS exam is the most difficult one in India. The extremely low pass rate in this area is the reason for this. In addition, there is a sizable syllabus to be covered (see the UPSC syllabus in the link), not to mention the variety of topics one needs to learn for it.
The IAS exam notification will be released in the month of February 2023. The eligibility criteria must be read carefully by all the candidates.

How to Apply for IAS exam
Here are the steps to apply for the IAS exam in the Registration form.
- Go to the Official website of IAS exam:

- There you can see the Exam Notifications tab.
- Click on IAS apply online.
- There will be a link for Civil Services part 1 registration.
- Go through the instructions given in the IAS application form carefully and proceed by clicking on YES.

- Qualification
- Gender
- Phone Number
- Date of Birth

Filling process of IAS application form:
Follow these steps to fill IAS application form
- You must pay the IAS application form fee online (Debit/Credit/Net Banking) or offline(through challan) mode.
Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates are exempted from paying the IAS application form fee.
Remaining candidates have to pay Rs.100 for the IAS application form.
- Scanned images of your Photo, Signature and ID card are to be uploaded as per the specifications mentioned there.
- After reading the declaration, tap on the “I agree” button to move to the next page.
- On the next page, your registration number can be seen. Save it or get a print of it for the IAS exam.
Payment method:
Candidates may use their Visa, Mastercard, RuPay credit/debit cards or SBI internet banking
to pay the application fee online. Offline Candidates may pay their application fee offline in cash at any SBI branch.
According to the official website, applicants who choose to pay cash must print the pay-in slip that the system generates during part II registration and deposit their fees at the counter of their local SBI branch the following working day only. The “Pay by Cash” mode will be disabled one day before the application period closes, candidates should be aware of it. The payment can be made at any SBI branch during regular business hours on the closing date, though, if the candidate has generated their pay-in slip before the process is deactivated.
There will be a part-II registration, The Click Here for Part II link is located on the UPSC official website, and candidates must click it to continue with part-II registration. When a candidate clicks the link, a new page will open where they must enter their registration ID and date of birth before clicking the Submit button. The application form for the Civil Services (IAS) Exam Part-II will appear on the screen after pressing the button. Candidates must fill out all required fields before clicking the Submit button. It completes the online IAS application.
How can I cancel my IAS application?
The following actions can be taken by candidates to withdraw their IAS exam applications:
- Visit upsc.gov.in to access the official website.
- Select the “What’s New” link.
- Visit the Application Withdrawal page. Exam for Civil Services (Preliminary)
- Select the “Withdrawal” link on the new screen.
- Once more, click the link labelled “Application Withdrawal” in the right corner.
After reading the directions, press the “Yes” button. Type in your registration ID, then click Continue. Type the following information in:
- Name
- Gender
- Birthdate
- Fathers’ and Mothers’ Names
- Mobile Number
- Email Address
then choose the option to withdraw the application and click “Agree.”
The candidates may withdraw their IAS application in the manner mentioned above.
