Best Road Trips from Denver Nobody Knows About

Usually, there comes a point when you feel like changing your surroundings, but a vacation could be still a long time away, then a road trip could be just what the doctor ordered. If you are in Denver or have arrived here for some period of time and consider getting away for a while, just plan a road trip. It doesn’t take up much of your time, is easy to organize, and is not as costly as a full-blown trip on a holiday. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Pikes Peak Region

If you have flown into Denver make sure to find car rentals Denver Airport under 25, grab a vehicle, and set out on your adventure in the Pikes Peak Region. The first thing to do for the outdoorsy type of people is to explore the nearby parks and some of the most amazing landscapes. Just an hour away from Denver is a massive network of caves that can be quite a fun challenge. There are tours organized for those willing to try their personal prowess. Afterwards, you can go to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo which is truly considered one of the best in the country. Apart from checking out all the animals and spending time in the open air, there you can feed giraffes. If later on, you are still in the mood for strolling you can explore the Garden of the Gods. If you rent a car for those under 25 in Denver, you will have the freedom of getting to most of the places of interest. 

Moab

Another destination for the more adventurous type is Moab. Once you get a vehicle at car rental for those under 25 you can drive to Utah and visit Moab. It offers a lot of recreational activities, including biking, hiking, rafting, and cross-country skiing. On the way there you can visit Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park. They offer quite a landscape and are both well worth a visit. In Canyonlands National parks you can marvel at the amazing desert and the Colorado River cutting its way through it. The Arches National Park can also be an unbelievable experience. Red rock formations against the sky are striking and they are indeed something that is a rare sight.  There are plenty of activities organized in the town and even if you are into adventurous sports, you will find something to do.

Mount Evans and Estes Park

One of the local things to do is to climb the “14ers”, which means one of the fifty-three mountains in the state that are 14000 feet or more. Mount Evans is one of them, you can drive up to the foot of the mount and hike up Grays Peak. Car rental for under 25s is the perfect place to find the most suitable vehicle for the adventure. After that, you can start counting how many of those 53 mountains you have been able to conquer. If you are not tired and are still ready for some walk, you can stroll around Estes Park or take the aerial tram there to see some of the most magnificent views and landscapes.

Royal Gorge Suspension Bridge

Standing at almost 1000 feet above the Arkansas River is the Royal Gorge Suspension Bridge. It is the highest suspension bridge in the country and it is an incredible place to visit. More than 4000 steel cables make it a true feat of engineering. It is stunning and can take your breath away. Even if you do not find the bridge daunting, you will find that aerial gondola over the canyon or zip line can really tickle your nerves. 

Breckenridge

Colorado is the place to go skiing. If you are looking for a cozy town that lets you ski and at the same time enjoy all the perks of mountainous town life, you should opt for Breckenridge. It is not that far from Denver, so you can make it into a day trip, or if you may choose to spend the night there. It is great for skiing and snowboarding, but also it is not as expensive as some of the other resorts. Besides, there are plenty of shops, art galleries and restaurants. So, it provides quite enough entertainment if you are spending your time in the town.

Overall, Colorado is a marvelous place and if you arrive in Denver, rent a car to travel around. There are plenty of landmarks in the state and all of them are worth visiting. You should try to check as many destinations as you can. There are ideal slopes, mountainous landscapes and red rocky formations that any tourist will find quite enjoyable and there are recreational activities to meet all the needs.
